St Francis Church, Strood is entering an exciting new season of mission and growth, and we are seeking to appoint a Missional Leader – Youth & Young Adults to help lead, shape and develop our ministry among young people and young adults.

Following a period of church revitalisation, this part-time role is focused on the spiritual and strategic leadership of youth and young adult ministry, helping build clear discipleship pathways, develop emerging leaders, strengthen schools and community partnerships, and support the continued growth of ministry among the next generation.

This role is part of a shared delivery model. The Missional Leader will provide leadership and oversight, while working alongside a Youth & Young Adults Worker who will focus on practical, front-line ministry delivery.

About the Role

This is a strategic leadership and oversight role with a particular focus on:

  • Youth ministry – shaping the vision, discipleship framework and long-term development of SFS Youth, while supporting the weekly delivery of youth ministry
  • Young adults – providing vision and leadership for the growth of The Sanctuary as a welcoming, sustainable worshipping and discipling community
  • Schools and outreach – leading strategic partnerships with local schools and community organisations, and helping develop mission opportunities that connect with young people across Strood
  • Leadership development – identifying, encouraging and mentoring volunteers, young leaders and emerging leaders within the church and wider community
  • Team oversight – line managing and supporting the Youth & Young Adults Worker in the day-to-day delivery of ministry

You will work closely with the Vicar, staff team, PCC and wider church leadership, with a clear emphasis on vision, discipleship, leadership development, partnership working and sustainable missional growth.

  • Is confident in building partnerships with schools, churches and community organisations
  • Can encourage, equip and develop volunteers and emerging leaders
  • Is able to supervise and support another ministry worker
  • Is warm, relational, organised and able to work well as part of a team

The role will require some flexibility, including occasional evenings, weekends and Sundays, particularly around key ministry events, church services, youth and young adult gatherings, and community outreach.
